It has been a very long time since I last posted anything, almost a year and a half. I think I’m just going to give you a quick run down of the past year. I’m no longer at WSU. I decided to change majors and upon doing so, I learned that it was going to take me over three years to complete my new degree. I was super frustrated by that. So I started looking into other colleges and found Spokane Community College. They have a really nice water quality department, there are a lot of places, like the USGS, that will hire first from SCC. I’m loving it there so far. All of my classes are hands on and they relate to what were going to be doing after school. No more of those stupid classes that have nothing to do with your major. I’m currently living in Spokane, obviously, and I’m living with my boyfriend and his best friend Zach. Zach owns the house, and me and Nate rent out his spare rooms. I thought that it might be weird living together (i’m not sure why I thought that lol) but its working out really well.
We really enjoy going on adventures together, ie: hiking, camping, biking etc. Last weekend, we went on a fun hike at Mineral Ridge. It was a nice hike because if there wasn’t a huge elevation gain but it was still difficult enough for us. The trail goes along this old mining area, there’s even a little cave that they used for mining. The pamphlet that goes with the trail didn’t really say what they mined for or what the cave was used for. Here are some pics from the hike!

Computer troubles

I believe this is the biggest issue in my life: my computer. Every three months, like clockwork, something goes wrong with it. Sometimes its something minor, like it needs a new power cord or battery, other times its something major. I haven’t had anything major happen to it in a really long time, but recently I keep getting the blue screen of death. I used to only get it if I was playing a game on my computer cause the graphics card is really old. Now, I could be doing nothing and my computer will just randomly crash. So I called up my warranty people cause I thought my warranty was good until sep. 15. I was wrong. It ended on sep. 1. So now I have a slowly dying computer. I was thinking of waiting until Christmas and then asking for a new one from my parents. But I need a new computer now. So I have been doing a ton of research on computers, which has been really difficult cause I don’t know anything about computers. All I knew was that I didn’t want another hp. I’m really happy with this purchase. I’m officially very poor now. I also got a 2 year extended limited warranty on it. The limited warranty doesn’t cover accidental damage though, like if you drop it or spill something on it. But I decided I didn’t need the ADH warranty cause I’ve had my current computer for 4 years and I have yet to drop it or spill anything on it. The ADH warranty was also three times as much as the limited warranty. It will be coming in the mail probably within the next few days. I have been following its shipping and it is currently in Portland 🙂

So, I would like to apologize for not posting anything in about 4-5 months. Every time I was going to blog, I got really busy and then would forget.
Summer went by way too fast. A lot happened. I worked and did some summer school, which I hated. I’ve never had to do school over the summer, so I wasn’t used to basically going to school year round. At the beginning of the summer, I met a new boy :). We work together. He’s pretty outdoorsy, he likes to camp and fish and play with his cars lol. I went to warped tour with the boy and his friends. It was so much fun, but super super hot. 3oh!3 was supposed to be there, but it turns out they weren’t going to be there for the dates that warped tour was at the gorge. The only person that I really knew there was Mike Posner. He was only up on stage for about 10 mins. It was kind of a let down. We went camping in Vantage instead of staying at the gorge campground. They wanted $20 a night per person to camp in their grassy field. There were no pick-nick tables or any amenities except for a bathroom. We didn’t pay, but camped there any way. I drank a bottle of wine all by myself lol. It was really really bad wine also. After warped tour, I went to Edmonds with Nate and met his family. They were so nice I really liked them.
The school year has started again. We have had a week of class so far, its been alright. My adviser put me in the wrong class. I was signed up for Chem 106, which I didn’t think I was allowed to take yet, but since she told me to be in it, I figured it was alright. To be in chem 106, you have to have passed chem 105, and I haven’t taken 105 yet. It turns out that she wanted to me to be in botany, but accidentally put in the wrong numbers. I have now come down with a cold, but its not too bad. My nose is just super stuffed up and runny at the same time, its kinda gross. I’m just glad that my stomach doesn’t hurt.
Yesterday, me and Nate went to Moscow Mountain and drove around. The roads were terrible. They were really bumpy and washed out in places, but my little car made it :). I was really worried that we would blow out a tire or something or even worse, more than one tire. I only have one spare! Next week is labor day weekend. I want to go camping or something one last time before it starts to get cold.
I’m going to try and be more on top of blogging this semester, but I’m not going to make any promises :):)
Junior writing portfolio

At WSU we have a wonderful thing called the junior writing portfolio. It has two parts to it, the first part is three essays from our college career that have been signed and graded by our teachers. The second part is a timed writing exam. I did the timed writing today. It was long and stupid. We were given a passage from Michael Pollan and we had to write an essay about it. I have issues with Pollan cause he writes all this crap about stuff that doesn’t really make sense. It was hard to stay on track lol. I also kinda kept repeating myself, just rewording what I had already written. Then the second part of the timed writing was a little essay about our writing career, which included past assignments and future writing that we may do. That part was easy. The writing portfolio is stupid because its just there to make sure that we can write. Isn’t that what english 101 was for? If you passed english 101 then you obviously know how to write. Then to top it off, you have to pay a fee to do the writing portfolio. But whatever, I dont really care how I did on it as long as I passed lol. If you don’t pass you have to take a one credit writing proficiency class. How stupid would that be?

I’m sorry for not having posted something in a while. I haven’t been doing much and little things have been happening but nothing that I could blog about.
I am sick, again. Its not a puking sickness this time thankfully. Caitlin got sick first, probably from her preschool, then brought it home to me lol. All I do is cough all day long. Its horrible. Except I don’t really feel sick, which makes it nice. My stomach muscles are really sore, cause when you cough your ab muscles contract, so in a way, its like I’ve been doing a lot of sit ups lol. I really hope that I get better soon, I’m tired of not sleeping well and coughing constantly.
On Monday, of this past week, my cat Oyvind ran away. Well, at least my mom thought that he ran away. She put up pictures of him around the neighborhood and went door to door. It turns out that on Monday, our neighbors came home and opened up their garage door. Oyvind is very curious and likes to stick his big fat face into everything. He ran inside their garage, and got stuck inside when they closed the door. It wasn’t until late Tuesday night that they finally opened their garage again and Oyvind was able to come home. I was so relieved to hear that. Hes such a friendly and cute and playful kitty. I would have been super sad if I came home over spring break and he wasn’t there anymore :(.
We also finally got our living situation taken care of for next year. Kate and Arianna are moving out, and Sami and Melissa are moving in :). I’m really excited about this, were going to have so much fun next year. Last night, we decided to have a little pizza party with the new roommates. We got two larges from pizza perfection cause they have buy one get one free on carryout. But only Sami came over. We had been talking to Melissa before that and she said that she was on her way over, but she never made it. Turns out she went to the bars with some friends lol. We had a lot of pizza for just the three of us. But at least we have left overs lol.

three day weekend

This past weekend was a 3 day weekend. I decided to go home to Oly for it, cause there was nothing for me to do here and I missed my family. On Saturday I went shopping with my mom and brother. Charlotte Ruse was having a sale on their clearance stuff, it was buy one get one half off. So I paid like $14 there for two shirts. Then at Macys, my mom had some really good coupons, so I got a cute summer dress and a shirt for $13 total with the discount and everything. My mom bought the stuff at Macys for me, so I basically paid $14 for 4 things. Amazing! lol. Then my dad and I went and saw Sherlock Holmes in theaters. It was super good. I was never into Sherlock Holmes when I was little, but I really liked the great mouse detective (he was basically sherlock holmes but in mouse form). On Sunday, my mom and I went to see Valentines Day, the movie. It was so cute and funny and had a super happy ending :). Then me and Jennifer hung out and went to Oldschool pizza. Their pizza is super good, and we bought like 2 slices and the guy gave us a bunch of extra lol. Jennifer is about 5 months along, so she has a little belly forming, its kinda cute. Then today she found out that shes having a girl!!!!!! Very exciting. They have such cute baby clothes and things out there, so I’m kinda excited to buy her some things. Over all it was a very good weekend. It was nice to go home even if it was for just a few days.

I have started looking at spring clothes online, and there are so many that I want. I think I just really want it to be spring already that by looking at clothes it will make spring come faster lol. Here are some of my favorites.
I just love the little skirt bottoms. I just don’t want to pay $30 a piece, I’m a poor college student lol

Today marks the first day that I’m actually feeling better. My throat isn’t swollen anymore, I have no fever and my entire body doesn’t hurt anymore. It took so long to get better, all I have done since last Tuesday is sleep. I pretty much had to get worse before I got better. It felt like a combination of the flu and strep throat, not fun. I’m better though, which is all that counts lol. This morning when I woke up it had snowed!! Only a couple inches, but still, its snow! But, I just looked at the amount of reading that I have to do and its a lot. I was on top of everything, then I get sick for just a few days and now I have like a hundred pages to read for each class. Its ridiculous. I guess its a good thing I have all weekend to read lol.
